Getting Plastered

A new texture I am having fun with -plaster and newspaper pages. I sealed these with polymer medium, and then layered watered iridescent bronze, some other acrylics and a bit of distress ink on top. Delicious and dilapidated!

Both of these are part of my new sister-project journal, which is off to a great start, and providing a much needed stress release & distraction.

And note the colour in that last one. Dude, I am soooooo not afraid of colour anymore! My colour class with Julie & Chris has now wrapped up, and it was a great learning experience. I would highly recommend.

  1. gorgeous. gorgeous. gorgeous. I want to get back into taking a couple online classes this spring. This one looks like fun! Plaster... cool!
So, I am working on the finishings of the nerdfighter journal pages! I plan on putting them in the mail on Friday :) I want to keep the ones you guys sent. I love them!

  2. I love what you did with these!! Watered bronze is awesome.

Thanks for the shout out too! Don't forget you can come into class and see us anytime. :)

  3. Amazing! I am so jealous because the only thing I'm good at when handed glue, plaster and acrylics is gluing my fingers to the plaster and acrylics.

  4. Evangeline, stop on by! You are one of the winners of the giveaway.

  5. Wow...these are spectacular. The texture hear is calling my name. I so wish I could reach into the computer and touch the surface!

  6. Whoa. Stuff goin' on over heah. Cool texture. Gonna try it. And COLOUR! Woohooo. Still gonna take the layer love course and I hope they keep the color one up. But I've got to finish the family photo scan in and be done with it project first. Getting there. These are so perty. deb

  7. Thank you so much! :) Yes, I love this texture! I wouldn't mind making a whole book of plaster pages to work in...with wires... *ideas brewing*

@Deb The Layer Love course is by far my favourite so far. All are really good, but that one is da bomb!

  8. Love the texture- and the color. You've inspired me to continue working on all of my incomplete videos from the Layer Love class I took with Julie but didn't get to finish!!

  9. They look gorgeous....I love plaster!
I've just restarteddoing regular art....I'm trying (and at the moment failing) to build up a portfolio of work before I apply for an art therapy course.

Your blog has inspired me....I've got so many ideas now that my head might explode!

    thank you.
