#17 Quin Nickel Azo Gold, I Just Can't Quit You

~

#17 Another colour exploration in the sister journals. This time my favourite paint colour, Quinacridone Nickel Azo Gold. I got turned onto this when I picked it up as a supply for Julie Prichard's Layer Love class. It was love at first squeeze. (hmm, that sounds dirtier than I'd intended...but the alternative is "love at first stroke". Worse I think, eh?) I love the way it transforms other colours (especially phthalo blue). I love the way it can give an aged, grungy look, without diminishing the light and brightness of the piece. I love the way it can have so many different characters...from rich to dirty...dark and moody to warm and glowing. Love, love, love.

And I never ever would have guessed at its magical, transformative properties, just seeing that innocuous looking orange-ish stripe across the Golden tube. This is one you have to play with to really see what it does.

And now, I am off to a party at my sons' school. Their last SOS group meeting (social skills group for kids on the Autism Spectrum) this year. There are 5 of them in the group, all boys, all in Grade 4. They are a fascinating bunch of kids, and I am genuinely looking forward to it...plus there will be cupcakes.

LOve this page, it's wonderfully aged and interesting with it's layers. And your SOS cupcakes and gathers sounds yummy all way around!
