Art, Heart & Healing

I am taking part in a workshop generously offered for free by Tamara Laporte (AKA Willowing) called The Heart of Art. I am not much into whimsical and girly, and generally prefer abstract to figurative when I do art, but I like Tam very much as a person and a teacher, and it's good for me to do something completely different now and then. I have been having loads of fun with it. Maybe because it is not in my preferred style so the pressure is off as far as getting a certain result. I also find the healing exercises surprisingly uplifting (surprising because I can be a bit stiff and skeptical when it comes to some of the "new age-y" stuff). The above is a self portrait in semi-whimsical/semi-realistic style, with a message to myself about why it is OK for me to make art, despite the fact that I am having increasing difficulties managing my time with time outs for art in it.

And below is today's exercise, which as you can see was a bit of a slap and dash page, but with a lot of heart put in it.
