My Own Personal Stimulus Plan; #1

I've been artistically slumpy for awhile now ("slumpy" not a real word? It should be). My output has dwindled, and the inspiration just isn't flowing the way I like it to flow. I also feel muddled as to which directions and styles are calling my name, which ones already truly belong to me and where I want to be heading...or maybe I don't want to be heading anywhere at all, just sheer intuition and that one particular moment as I sit with brush in hand. I don't know, but slumping isn't going to foster any clarity on the matter.

So I need a kick in the butt, a stimulus plan. A 30 day art journal challenge of my own making, just to get the juices going. I am aiming for 5 days a week, weekends off. I am going to try to be good about posting, if not daily, every couple of days. Some may remember the last challenge I did at the Gary Reef ning last year, I think I got to like day 25 and chucked it...which is sooo like me, and makes me smile. We'll see how it goes this time.

So without further ado...

An underpainting in charcoal. Many shades of blue. Acrylics, pan pastels, book pages, acylic ink. Done in my 9"x9" "Super Deluxe" Aquabee notebook (which all the following pages will be done in, unless otherwise specified).

I was thinking of stars. And purpose.

  1. I agree with Craig. Joy and hope and inspiration exploding!

I just signed up for a 30-Day Meditation Challenge for exactly the same reason. And (tee-hee) 'stimulus plan' always makes me titter in a cheeky, immature, silent, shoulder-shaking, hand-over-my-mouth sort of way. Stimulus. haha!

  2. Thanks guys. :) I like it too, and it's been awhile since I've been making anything that really satisfies me. I am excited for this 30 days.

And K, I totally giggled while writing the title too! And if that's wrong, then I just don't want to be right. ;) Good luck on the meditation challenge!

  3. You know I love those colors! I love this one. Oddly, I just bought some heirloom seeds for moon and stars watermelon, and your art kinda reminded me of the picture on the seed pkg. I hope I can grow some, my luck with melons is pretty bad, but hope springs eternal.
Keep arting, my friend. It's awesome.

well if you set yourself a challenge, the i totally support that, and will even prod you if you like xD.

maybe on the days you find hard, you could take inspiration from leel and just doodle! it's all just different forms of arting =)
